Understand common Bosch appliance error codes, what they may indicate, which symptoms matter, and when a dishwasher, washer, dryer, refrigerator, or cooking appliance needs professional diagnosis.

Bosch appliances use electronic controls, sensors, pumps, heating systems, and safety circuits to monitor normal operation. When the appliance detects an abnormal condition, it may display an error code, stop a program, or disable part of its operation.
A Bosch error code usually identifies the affected system rather than proving that one specific component has failed. Bosch uses different diagnostic systems across dishwashers, washers, dryers, refrigerators, ovens, ranges, and cooktops, so the complete model number and actual appliance symptoms should always be considered together.
Bosch dishwashers use E-codes for water flow, drainage, heating, leaks, sensors, and electronic controls.
E14 indicates a problem involving the flow meter or filling system. The dishwasher is not receiving or measuring incoming water as expected.
E15 is a leak-protection warning. It appears when the dishwasher detects water in its base and activates the safety system. The water supply should be turned off when this condition occurs.
E24 indicates a drainage problem. Possible external causes include a blocked filter, restricted drain hose, loose pump cover, clogged air gap, or disposal connection problem. Standing water after a cycle may accompany the code.
E01 relates to the heat-pump motor circuit. E02 and E03 involve control-board relay faults, E06 concerns the door-sensor circuit, and E09 identifies an internal heat-pump heater fault.
Persistent electrical, heater, or control faults require model-specific diagnosis.
E16 or F16 means the washer detects an open door.
E17 or F17 indicates that filling is taking longer than expected.
E19 or F19 concerns excessive heating time.
E23 or F23 means the AquaStop leak-protection system has activated. Bosch advises turning off the water supply and discontinuing normal use until the cause is addressed.
Other documented faults include E25/F25 for the turbidity sensor, E26/F26 for the analog pressure sensor, F27 for another pressure-sensor fault, and E28/F28 for the flow sensor.
On newer washer platforms, E80 identifies a drive-circuit fault that requires professional attention.
Bosch ovens and microwaves can display an E followed by a number when an internal malfunction is detected.
E11 identifies a touch-key problem. Moisture or condensation around the keypad may sometimes contribute.
Bosch ranges use more detailed electronic codes. e005 means communication has failed between the user interface and power board. e011 concerns the touch sensor, E100 identifies an electronics fault, e101 concerns the temperature sensor, and e310 indicates a power-supply failure.
Induction-equipped ranges may show E9000 or E9010 for abnormal incoming voltage and E9011 for an incorrect electrical connection.
Repeated power or electrical warnings should be diagnosed before continued use.
E02 indicates an ice-maker fault or communication problem involving the ice-and-water system.
E03 identifies a dispenser user-interface fault.
Bosch recommends a brief power reset as an initial external check for these warnings. If the code returns, further diagnosis is required.
Some models may display a general E or D message. Cooling performance should be monitored at the same time because rising refrigerator or freezer temperatures can be more important than the code itself.
Bosch induction cooktops can display E9000, E9010, or U400 for supply-voltage problems. F1 or F6 indicates an overheated cooking zone, while F2, F4, or E7015 concerns overheating of internal electronics.
On Bosch dryers, E01 or E02 indicates a blocked lint filter. E16 appears when the door opens during operation. E56 concerns moisture sensing, while E63 identifies a heating-element failure.
Bosch groups E06, E08, E09, E24, E25, E28, E36, and E90 as electronic faults requiring professional diagnosis.
Record the complete code and model number before clearing the display. Note whether the appliance is filling, draining, heating, cooling, spinning, or responding normally.
Simple external checks may resolve some filter, drainage, water-supply, or control-panel conditions. Persistent leaks, voltage faults, electronic failures, heating problems, and sensor errors require deeper testing.
Avoid replacing pumps, control boards, sensors, heaters, or other expensive components based only on an online code description.
